BEN TUTTON

Natural History Cameraman

I’m a highly creative and driven wildlife camera assistant, operator and DIT. I predominantly work on location for bluechip natural history series. I have had the pleasure of working on a wide range of high-end wildlife programmes for multiple broadcasters over the last few years including: The Hunt, Big Cats, Attenborough’s Big Birds, Wild Sri Lanka, Hidden Kingdoms and The Burrowers.

“Ben is hard working but easygoing – the perfect combination. We had a great time together filming in Sri Lanka for Terra Mater. Technically he is very knowledgeable – everything from motion control and night shooting, to the best choice of lenses and unravelling card-download problems. But he also has a fine eye for picture and composition. I felt very lucky to have someone with those skills to work with – and would unreservedly recommend him as principle or second camera on any shoot” – Paul D. Stewart

“I was fortunate to have worked with Ben whilst filming for the BBC’s landmark series, The Hunt. Our shoot was both technically challenging, and physically demanding, seeing us shooting in temperatures as low as -20. Ben has that rare combination of technical ability, initiative and common sense, complemented by a great sense of humour. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Ben to any production.” – Robin Smith

“I had the pleasure of working with Ben on a recent Natural World – Attenborough’s Big Birds. Ben is tremendously hard working, he is also very knowledgable on kit, enthusiastic and creative as a 2nd camera and a very reliable DIT – I can’t recommend him highly enough. He assisted me on an infra red night shoot and was lugging a ridiculously heavy pack containing car batteries and a really awkward lighting rig on foot through the forest on steep slopes. I frequently asked him to get the lights in very hard to reach places and he always did so with pleasure. He was an invaluable asset on the shoot and a thoroughly nice guy to have around.” – Ralph Bower
